Daytime fans love to watch Heather Tom flex her acting skills as her longtime The Bold and the Beautiful character, Katie Logan, and now they're going to get the chance to see the Emmy-winning actress at work on a different soap opera; she has signed on to the primetime soap Dynasty in a directing capacity.
The Illinois native took to Instagram with the news, sharing a photo of her name underneath the show title along with the tease that she gets her very own office with her new soap gig.
As her post reflects, Tom's directing work on Dynasty is a shadow position, meaning she learns from watching. And this isn't the only show where the actress will be working to continue developing her directing skills. As Soap Central previously reported, Tom landed a spot in this year's CBS Directing Initiative, which matches candidates for episodic network television with directors of CBS Television Network drama and comedy series.
Tom has been working toward a career as a director for quite some time. She has frequently jumped into the director's chair at B&B over the past three years and recently received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Best Directing Team. She has also directed the award-winning short films Serenity, which focuses on heroin addiction, and Bigfoot's Love Slave. Tom's daytime acting credits include Victoria Newman on The Young and the Restless, Kelly Cramer on One Life to Live, and Katie Logan on The Bold and the Beautiful.
Heather Tom isn't the only beloved soap opera actor bringing the Dynasty spinoff to life. The drama stars General Hospital alum Brianna Brown (ex-Lisa Niles), Melrose Place alum Grant Show, and Knott's Landing star Nicollette Sheridan.
