GH's Kirsten Storms "proud" of her depression recovery

General Hospital's Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones) opens up about her journey through depression treatment and being back on set at work.

General Hospital's Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones) has had quite a tough year. After the actress departed the ABC soap for an extended period of time, it came out that she battles severe depression and needed to take some time away from work to recover. She's finally back on set and better than ever, but she admits it wasn't an easy journey

"You don't know when you're in the middle of having, like, a breakdown, that you're having a breakdown," the actress tells Soap Opera Digest of her condition.

In fact, as she revealed earlier this month, her ex, Brandon Barash, was responsible for pushing her to seek help and speaking with GH to secure the actress the time off that she desperately needed. He also swooped in to take over parenting duties for their daughter, Harper.

"Now, being on the other side of it, it's crazy for me to think about that time period in my life," Storms says of her low moment. "I feel thankful to work for giving me time to be able to [seek treatment] for myself, and I'm proud of myself for coming back like they wanted me to."

Storms returned to work in mid-June and began airing again on July 24, 2017.

Are you glad Storms is happy, healthy, and back to work? What do you hope the writers have in store for Maxie in the weeks ahead?
