Fans are still reeling after General Hospital unceremoniously recast the role of Lucas Jones and surprised viewers with the unannounced debut of Matt Trudeau in the role previously played by Ryan Carnes. There's still no official word from GH on whether or not the casting move that took place in mid-November is permanent, but recent social media activity points to that being the case. In the days following Trudeau's debut, some of Carnes's closest GH costars shared their goodbyes with the actor, who had been in the role since 2004.
Parry Shen, who plays the role of Lucas' longtime love, Brad, took to Instagram with a photo from Lucas and Brad's wedding. He captioned the celebratory snap, "It has been an absolute honor and privilege, my friend."
Meanwhile, young actors Theo and Erik Olson -- the adorable twins who play baby Wiley -- have an Instagram page managed by their mother, who posted a photo of Carnes holding them in festive Santa Claus outfits. The photo is captioned, "This is our all-time favorite picture with Ryan Carnes! We just want to take a moment to thank you, Ryan, for being such a kind-hearted, genuine guy who truly cared about the boys. They loved hanging out with you."
The Olson twins' goodbye to Carnes also comes with a welcome to Trudeau, which reads, "Lucas will be played by Matt Trudeau now! Welcome to the GH family, Matt!"
Carnes first appeared as Lucas in 2004. He exited the show in 2005 but returned in 2014. The actor's on-screen appearances have been few and far between over the past couple of years. There's no telling whether or not Lucas will be seen more frequently now that Trudeau has taken on the role. Soap Central will continue to provide updates and additional information as it becomes available.
