Until 2021, Kyle Abbott had no idea he had a son thanks to a summer affair with the young wife of a rich mogul known as the "Locke Ness Monster." Ashland Locke believed he was Harrison's father, and Tara Locke was happy to allow him to keep on believing this -- until it was no longer convenient for her.
Tara had the idea that Harrison could be the ticket to a life with Kyle, but her machinations to get Summer out of the way made her sloppy in covering up a crime. While conspiring with Sally to make sure Summer stayed in Europe, she got distracted, and the fact that she embezzled funds from Ashland's company came to light. Tara was carted off to prison, where we assume she remains, while Summer married Kyle and became Harrison's new mom.
Since soap characters somehow find ways to get out of prison early for all sorts of reasons, it stands to reason that Tara might return one day to claim her son. That would certainly complicate things for Kyle, but it's an idea that Michael Mealor relishes.
"I think that would be just a great dramatic storyline and I think it would be terrifying and extremely confusing for Harrison as a child," Mealor told Soap Opera Digest. "I think for Harrison irreparable damage that would happen from that as a child. And I think Kyle, that is another one of his worst fears, which is kind of in the similar vein of him, the potential possibility of him losing his son if she fights for custody, [if] she's out of jail or something like that."
With Harrison now kidnapped and Summer blaming Kyle for what happened, could we see Summer try to win custody of her stepson once he is rescued? If so, a Tara return could certainly complicate that endeavor -- but it would also make things perfectly soapy, which is what we all want.
